Confidence is taught by proper structure of technique and application of the materials. Through this hand–on-course, students will learn diverse painting styles, as well as various master techniques. We will cover concepts such as: working lean to fat, impasto, Alla Prima and under painting specific for each image and subject within the image. Finished paintings will be 5x7 or 8 x10 in size with references provided by your instructor in the step by step structured class. All levels are always welcomed. This course is designed to guide each student in the study of the human form by promoting the personal freedom of utilizing one’s favorite medium. Those of you who know me and my passion to teach innovating and exciting lessons will enjoy this course as well as the personal and academic fulfillment it provides. Throughout the four-week span of the course, my goal is to assist you in strengthening your anatomical skills and your understanding of how light wraps around the human figure. There will be weekly proportion exercises that will build upon your confidence and comprehension of color mixing and values and tones, allowing you to unlock your full potential as an artist—exercises that will enhance your painting style through the illumination of positive and negative shapes that compose the human form in proper lighting. I will teach you how to draw the figure with proportional and anatomical accuracy as we study each, individual model. From one week to the next I will also introduce you to new, diverse techniques to promote your ability to capture the values and subtle nuances necessary to establish volume and dimension within the human form.
Through this impressionistic course, you will learn the foundational importance of studying black and white values in transitioning to color tones by studying color harmony and color mixing. This class will be a fun, fulfilling, and gradual process to creating beautiful and unique works of art that represent your individuality in creating them. I always encourage careful observation as a technique to advance your understandings of the dimensions of the human form and figure. You can expect to complete one painting a week, rotating your position in the classroom throughout the four weeks in order to capture various perspectives of the model. All artistic levels and skillsets are welcomed into this course as I intend to meet each artist at their level of experience. I will send a basic supply list after registration as materials are not included in this class, but I do encourage you to bring your favorite supplies as this course welcomes all mediums including pastels, oils, and acrylics. The smallest size canvas I would recommend is 16”x20”.
A model fee will be collected on the first day of class for all four sessions so please ensure that you bring cash.

Learn how to draw with confidence and master your drawing skills in this new advanced drawing course. Chiaroscuro is Italian for light and dark invented during the Renaissance to portray depth through slow gradations of light and shadow. This advanced drawing technique will take you to the next level as an artist. Painters will be able to see the subtle nuances of light in their subject matter after completing this course. If you have taken several drawing courses with me and feel confident in your skills in perspective and proportion, join me. We will focus on one direct light source in our classes this will greatly enhance the 3-dimentional quality in your work. We will be working from life and professional photos. Charcoals both black and white and pencils on toned paper to capture the light and dark. Come enjoy expanding your artistic skills with me, you will be challenged. This is a new class that all artists will enjoy and find very fulfilling. We will work with both wet and dry drawing materials such as inks, dyes, watercolor and even gouache as underpaintings. Then we will build upon the subject matter with a layering and overlapping techniques to add a new life to the drawing. We will then go back into the initial washes with dry drawing materials to design exciting unique one of a kind art work that is so fun and forgiving at the same time. We will apply microns color pencils and even render with pastel pencils to create a stylized or impressionistic or even a realistic rendition of guided subject matters, such as koi ponds, sunsets, tropical paradises or any image you find intriguing. Come explore and learn how to mix and match many diverse mediums on one paper. Detailed Supply list will be attached to your receipt.

If your Child enjoys drawing and wants to improve their skills this is the camp for them. Mastering drawing techniques and emphasizing the importance of observation while being taught the proper techniques to become a skilled young artist. Perspective 1 point and 2 point, achieving accuracy with proportions making and using values properly all the while creating dynamic compositions. Various media will include graphite, charcoal, fine markers, Chinese ink, colored pencils and some wet drawing media as well. This Advanced exploration painting camp is for Children that Love to PAINT. Working like real artists using standing easels being instructed on how to begin a painting and finish it step by step. Your child will paint from life in classroom using still lives and outdoors in the fresh air under the trees making a plein air painting on our beautiful grounds at Thompson Park. Campers will learn how to use acrylics, watercolor, tempera and mixed media painting. They will understand and create art in the following techniques: Realism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Fauvism and Abstraction all while exploring their individual creative style. Come to Jersey Shore Artist Studio Classes and meet other local like-minded artists. New fun way to create with other creators. We will have a private studio with easels and we will serve Herbal Teas, Cookies and relaxing music to just make our art. This class is designed as a group art studio class with a professional artist instructing each student individually when desired. Students bring their own supplies in their specific media of preference, all mediums welcomed. Instructions consists of color mixing through reinforcement of color theory, educating dynamic use of composition and various techniques of application of material in all mediums. Perspective lessons along with personal one on one constructive critiques. All level artists both professional and beginners are always welcome. She will demonstrate as everyone follows along painting the exact subject matter as she instructs from inception to completion. This 4 hour workshop should be ample time to complete an oil painting. This is a one of a kind experience all local artist do not want to pass up. You will be supplied with a New Wave Pochade Easel to use during your exclusive lesson at this breathtaking Park. This pleasurable and rewarding class will cover compositional structure, color theory, application of materials and most of all the process of capturing the LIGHT in the open air like the Impressionists. Intermediate experience in oil painting artists are welcomed. Must be physically able to stand for four hours or please bring a chair. Please bring all your oil painting supplies as if you were in a classroom setting in a backpack to carry around more easily. Detailed Supply list will be attached to your receipt.

Instructor Gina Torello has designed this PleinAir class down on the boardwalk in Asbury Parlk and Ocean Grove. She will demonstrate each session as everyone follows along painting the same subject matter as she instructs from inception to completion. Each painting will take two weeks start to finish. Lessons will be on the Carousel in Asbury Park the Tent City in Ocean Grove and the Jetty on 6th Ave north of Convention Hall all while painting alongside with a master PleinAir artist. This is a one of a kind experience all local artist do not want to pass up.
The first 12 Artists will be supplied with a New Wave Pochade Easel to use during your exclusive lessons down in these quaint seashore towns and a comfortable pleinair chair to use as you paint. This pleasurable and rewarding class will cover compositional structure, color theory, application of materials and most of all the process of capturing the LIGHT in the open air like the Impressionists. All levels of oil painting artists are welcomed. Must be physically able to stand for three hours and mobile to move about outside with all your supplies in a backpack. We will meet at the Jersey Shore Arts Center our first class.
