Join LightScapes Studio on our travels to Cold Spring, New York for a Plein-air village sketching retreat April 30-May 2, 2021. The focus of this trip will be to enrich your artistic and creative abilities in suburban sketching on an individual basis . We will work in watercolor and mixed media in small format. Individual New Wave easels mounted on tripods that will be available to all artists along with a plein-air compact foldable chairs. Pastels, oils, acrylics and any other media of choice are also welcomed.
We will immerse ourselves in this quaint Hudson valley Historic Village founded in 1730 by Thomas Davenport. Cold Spring originally served as a trading post on the Hudson River. Today Cold Spring is an artistic treasure nestled along the Hudson on the bank of the river. Cold Spring’s quaint character has been described as "one of the best-preserved 19th century townscapes on the Hudson River region”. Local artisans with many unique gift shoppes and family owned restaurants with home cooked meals are just waiting to serve you.
This is a weekend getaway with a small group of likeminded artists. Lessons will be given after breakfast and again after lunch in different locations in this intimate town. The Historic Bed and Breakfast was built in 1825 their three story Inn features nine individually decorated rooms with antiques and high-quality reproduction period pieces. Mira Monte Inn - Bar Harbor, Maine on June 21-27, 2021

Join LightScapes Studio on our travels to Bar Harbor, Maine for a Plein-air painting retreat June 21-27, 2021. The focus of this trip will be to enrich your artistic and creative abilities on an individual basis.
Our exciting artistic journey will take place in the peaceful, breathtaking surroundings of Mira Monte Inn, tucked away in a quaint town on the coast of Maine. We will work with such a wide variety of subject matter, including gardens, Victorian homes, the down town village of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, don’t forget the pristine Atlantic lobster traps along the harbors and waterways. Group lessons on composition, color theory and value studies-along with step-by-step demonstrations in oils and pastel outside and inside the facilities-will be offered. This will be an unforgettable getaway.
The entire Bed and Breakfast is available solely to LightScapes Studio. There are 19 rooms ranging from full king, queen, and cottage suites all with ensuite bathrooms.
All accommodations will be provided, including lodging for 6 nights in a private bed & breakfast at the elegant Mira Monte Inn located in downtown Bar Harbor. Breakfasts will be served at the Inn by the gourmet chef on site. Lunches will be served on location wherever our Plein-air artists are painting that day. We will share our final Dinner together in an elegant downtown restaurant to be announced at a later date. All other dinners will be at the discretion of each individual person and not included in the total.
Individual New Wave easels mounted on tripods that will be available to all artists along with a plein-air compact foldable chairs. All artists are required to bring their individual art supplies and medium of personal preference. Feel free to work in any media you desire. I will be teaching several step-by-step lessons and work with each and every one of you individually during the entire workshop. Join LightScapes Studio on our travels to Pienza, Italy, for a Plein-air painting retreat from June 6-13, 2022. The focus of this trip will be to enrich your artistic, and creative abilities on an individual basis in a culturally enriched environment.
Our exciting, artistic journey will take place in the peaceful, breathtaking surroundings of the Relais il Chiostro, tucked away on the hilltop town of Pienza in southern Tuscany.
The Relais Chiostro di Pienza is a former Franciscan Convent dating back to the 13th century, located in an enviable position, in the center of the magnificent hamlet of Pienza-the heart of the Val d’Orcia. The Relais, in addition the charm of antiquity and history which has literally “passed” through its rooms, hides a wonderful surprise: the panoramic terrace with a garden set in the romantic Sienese hills of southern Tuscany.
All accommodations will be provided, including lodging in a private wing of the monestary with an ensuite in every room and every room will have a view of the famous Val d’Orcia. All breakfasts along with three lunches and three dinners are included. We will have a day excursion to the Podere Speldalone an authentic organic working farm for a Plein-Air lesson and a gourmet meal you will remember for a lifetime. Local wines are served at all meals from the vineyards below in the Val d’Orcia and the unique gift from artisans you will not find anywhere in Tuscany. All the art supplies imaginable from pastels, watercolor, charcoals to oils and all the supplies needed to create these masterpieces. Light weight New Wave Plein-Air easels and a backpack to carry all your essential supplies around the town.
